Pre Shave Oil as Beard Oil

Can pre-shave oil be used as beard oil? Maybe, We'll say it depends. Pre-shave oil is used to soften your beard hair and smoothen your skin before shaving to prevent bumps. It leaves your skin smooth after shaving with no irritation.

Shaving without pre-shave oil is like driving a vehicle without oil, it grinds. Pre-shave oil hydrates and secures your skin, making it smoother for your razor to float as opposed to ripping and pulling as you go. Not many oils can replace pre-shave oil because it is specifically designed to line the skin thickly, grease your beard hair and should generally be a thick oil for making your beard supple. The objective of pre-shave oil isn't to add shine or act as light conditioning, but to appropriately saturate your skin and hair to give satisfactory flexibility. Beard oils can do those, but are designed to be light and non-greasy.

A shaving oil essentially should be a non-harmful, non-growth limiting heavy oil. Some men simply utilize straight olive oil for shaving.

Beard hair oil is formulated to replicate the skin's normal oils when it comes to pH, acid balance and other various factors, and is particularly useful at forestalling dry, irritated skin and mellowing the itchiness of stubble, while adding lusciousness and luxury to your beard.

How to use beard oil as pre-shave oil

Prep your beard and skin by washing with a gentle, thorough cleanser, applying a hot towel, or rinsing your face with warm water. Put a few drops of beard oil in the palm of your hand and rub the the oil into the beard hair for at least 30 seconds. Then let the oil 'work' for an additional 30 seconds prior to applying your shaving foam.

There are plenty of studies that have been done on beard oil, especially contrasting different kinds of oils with beard oil. Pre-shave oil does a great job that's different from what beard growth oil does for your beard.

They are both designed to do different jobs, and while there may be some overlap in function, one can't fully replace the other. Pre-shave oil serves to lubricate your skin splendidly. It acts as a buffer between your face and the razor, permitting the edge to glide considerably more easily than it would. But beard oil, especially beard growth oil, ensures growth, deep conditioning and softness with light, non-greasy oils.
